R&B and funk group Con Funk Shun slated to headline the Cajun & Blues White Linen Affair
Carson, CA — More than 500 guests are expected to fill the Carson Event Center Amphitheatre Saturday evening as the city welcomes back its popular Cajun & Blues White Linen Affair.
The July 25 event is officially sold out, underscoring the strong community support surrounding what has become one of Carson’s signature summer celebrations. The evening will run from 5 to 11 p.m. at the amphitheatre, located at 801 E. Carson Street.
Mayor Pro Tem Cedric Hicks announced the sellout during Tuesday night’s Carson City Council meeting, noting that tickets moved before the city launched any paid advertising.
“This is our eighth annual event in the City of Carson,” Hicks said. “It’s over 500 people in attendance. It sold out so fast, it never even got on the radio for advertisement.”
Hicks attributed the overwhelming response largely to word of mouth among residents and others familiar with the annual celebration.
“We didn’t pay for any type of advertisement,” he said. “This is by word of mouth, through the residents and people knowing about the event.”
This year’s entertainment lineup is led by legendary R&B and funk group Con Funk Shun. Monique Renee and the Teena Marie Experience will also take the stage, bringing a musical tribute to the late singer whose distinctive sound and catalog have continued to reach audiences across generations.
DJ Mr. Quick, The Family and Guy Black will round out the entertainment, with Black also serving as master of ceremonies.
Guests were able to purchase individual tickets for $80 or reserve tables for $750, with dinner included in the admission price. Attendees are encouraged to embrace the evening’s theme by arriving in white attire.
Hicks also thanked the volunteers responsible for helping organize the event, saying this year’s affair came together quickly. He told residents who secured tickets that they can expect more than the Amphitheatre’s usual appearance.
“You’re in for a treat,” Hicks said. “It will not look like your normal Amphitheatre when you arrive.”
The evening will also provide many residents with their first opportunity to experience the city’s newly improved Amphitheater in a full-scale event setting. Hicks described Saturday’s gathering as an unofficial debut for the venue following a significant city investment.
“This will be, in my books, the inaugural of our new Amphitheatre,” Hicks said, noting that Carson invested close to $10 million in the location.
The sold-out response demonstrates the continued popularity of local events that provide Carson residents with quality entertainment close to home. The White Linen Affair combines elements of an outdoor concert, dinner celebration and cultural experience within the city’s civic center.
The celebration arrives during an active summer season in Carson. In recent weeks, the city has hosted its Fourth of July Drone Show, the Carson Cup Final Watch Party and other recreational and cultural activities intended to bring residents together. Additional events, including the Clean N Green Festival, Fam Fest, Mariachi Fiesta and Country Western Fair, are scheduled in the coming months.
Beyond entertainment, gatherings such as the Cajun & Blues White Linen Affair can strengthen community connections while introducing residents and visitors to Carson’s public spaces and surrounding businesses. The event gives attendees an opportunity to enjoy live music, dining and fellowship without leaving the city.
