Championship softball remains alive and well in Carson.

The girls softball team at Carson High School delivered a dominant performance to capture the 2026 CIF Los Angeles City Section Open Division Championship, defeating Granada Hills Charter 12-1 in the title game and bringing another championship trophy back to the City of Carson last Friday.

The Colts entered the postseason as one of the top teams in the City Section and proved they belonged among the elite. Their championship run included victories over Legacy High School (9-7), Birmingham High School (12-2), and ultimately Granada Hills Charter (12-1) in the championship.

The title game showcased Carson’s offensive firepower and defensive consistency. After battling through a competitive playoff bracket, the Colts saved their most complete performance for the championship, overwhelming Granada Hills Charter and securing the Open Division crown in convincing fashion.

For the Carson community, the championship is a testament to the dedication of the student-athletes, coaching staff, parents, and supporters who have helped build one of the premier softball programs in the Los Angeles City Section. The victory continues a recent tradition of excellence for the Colts, who have consistently competed at the highest level of City Section softball.

Beyond the wins and trophies, the championship reflects the values that Carson High athletics seeks to instill in its students—hard work, teamwork, perseverance, and pride in representing their school and city. As the team celebrated on the field following the final out, players embraced one another knowing they had cemented their place in Carson High School history.

The championship also serves as an inspiration for the next generation of athletes throughout Carson. Young softball players watching from the stands can now look to this Colts team as an example of what can be accomplished through commitment and determination.

As banners are raised and trophies are displayed, one thing is clear: the Carson Colts are once again champions, and the City of Carson has every reason to celebrate.
