A Trusted Voice for a Growing City: Introducing The Carson Compass

Ta Lese Morrow, Publisher, Carson Compass

Carson, CA — There are defining moments in every community—moments when a new voice emerges, a new platform is created, and a renewed commitment is made to the people who call that community home. Today marks one of those moments for the City of Carson.

It is with great pride and purpose that we introduce the Carson Compass—a weekly publication designed to inform, uplift, and connect this vibrant and evolving city.

For over a decade, I have had the honor of serving as publisher of the Inland Valley News, a publication rooted in community, credibility, and civic engagement, which was founded in 1992, by my father Tommy Morrow, M.A. Through his foundational work, I have seen firsthand the power of local journalism to not only inform but also inspire, bridge gaps, and strengthen the relationship between communities and those who work to serve them. The launch of the Carson Compass is a natural extension of that mission—created with intention, and guided by a deep respect for the Carson community.

Carson is a city that’s really special for its rich diversity. You’ve got families, business owners, teachers, government workers, and big thinkers all living and working together. They’re all helping to make Carson a better place, and that’s something to be proud of. But even with all these great things going on, Carson is missing something – a way to share all these amazing stories with the community in a way that feels personal and easy to understand. That’s where the Carson Compass comes in, a publication and platform that’s all about telling the stories that matter most to the people of Carson.

We’re dedicated to being a trusted source of information, and we want to shine a light on the people, businesses, and institutions that make Carson such a great place to live, work, and play. We’ll be sharing stories from all corners of the city, from the halls of City Hall to the streets of our neighborhoods, and from the classrooms to the boardrooms. Our goal is to capture the essence of Carson, to show what makes it tick. One way we’re doing this is through our new Leadership Profile Series. This series is all about introducing you to the people who are shaping Carson’s future, not just through their policies, but through their personal stories, values, and vision. We want to give you a chance to get to know them, to understand what drives them, and to see the city through their eyes. By doing so, we hope to inspire a sense of community and connection among our readers, and to show everyone what makes Carson so special.

This publication is so much more than just a newspaper. It’s a way for people to connect with each other. Local businesses can use it to get support from the people they care about – their customers. Community groups can also use it to make a bigger difference and to amplify their impact. And for the people who live here, it’s a reliable source of information that helps them stay informed, empowered, and engaged.

As we launch this inaugural issue, we do so with gratitude—for the leaders who welcomed us, the partners who believe in this vision, and the community that inspires this work. We also do so with a clear understanding that this is just the beginning.

The Carson Compass belongs to Carson.

We invite you to read it, share it, contribute to it, and grow with it. Because when a community has a strong, trusted voice, it doesn’t just stay informed—it moves forward with purpose.

Welcome to The Carson Compass.
